Fighting Betta
The Betta has had a long history in Thailand and is one of Thailand’s traditional fish. Ancient people caught bettas from the rivers or canals.  These traditional fighting bettas are different from the present. As time passed, new methods were invented. Each has different technique in choosing the strain. At present, fighter betta are developed for patients, fighting accuracy, endurance, power, heart, speed, strong lips and touch scales. Selecting a competitor is also important, by choosing the same size such as fish head, thickness, and length of body. When raising your fish whether it is superior or not you must always remember to take good care of it.

I had a fighting betta that had very sharp teeth and never lost at a fight.  A week after I took the fish to fight at the same basin and I found out my fishes teeth were dull.  From my experience I found out that the fighting fish’s teeth are unpredictable.  Some can naturally sharpen at an early age or later on in life.  The solution I found was to train my fish by letting it fight with other fish.  But the quality of your fish is not only dependent on your fishes strain but also it is very dependent on how you train it.  You can check out my training methods by going to my link.
My Ultimate fighting betta is the first, and Five Star fighting betta is second at my farm. My fish are very tough and smart fighters that can cut their opponents with razor sharp teeth; they’re trained to kick butt. Very smart fighting style that avoids fighters attack and can split opponent’s skin easily. He must be thinking while he fights and learns from opponent. This betta must be a finisher, which means he knows how to win by attacking vital parts.  He will beat his opponents attack with sheer speed and keen eyes. He must be very accurate and precise when he goes in for an attack. He must throw combinations or multiple hits to attacker in a row. He should possess very hard scales and have powerful executed blows that send his opponent backwards. He must have courage and game in his blood to fight to the death in any situation.

The methods of rearing Fighter Betta by SiamAquatic  :
•    When finish breeding a caterpillar, we will take it into a hatchery. Pond’s size 2 x 5 meters. Deep 1 – 2 meters. Might add a morning glory into the pond. Putting some mosquito larva. When it’s about a month, transfer it into the grounded pond.
•    Grounded pond’s size 2x2 meters. Deep 0.05 – 1 meter. Put lichen live in or beside the pond for fighting fish, do not give anything else. Leave them find their food naturally.               A grounded pond will have the fighting fish approximately 500 – 1000, or one stall per a pond. Put the net around the pond in order to protect some enemy such as snake etc.
•    When you want the fish to fight, choose the appropriate fish age about 6 months up.  Then take it into the jar beware of it jumping out. Give it mosquito larva which is better than biotic food. Even though fighting betta want to eat biotic food. Give 10 bodies per a day.
•    Afterward, training the fish. Every fishes has to be prepared before competition. Otherwise you may lose.

Selecting good Fighter Betta  :
Select a fish that you like but also one that looks strong and has fighting characteristics.  Remember when fighting your fish do not fight it against an opponent that has beaten your fish before. If you fish’s mouth show black or swelling than it is useless. If you try to fight it you will most likely loose. You must select a big size, firm and strong fish.  Always carefully select your opponent to increase your chance of winning making sure that your fish is more superior than its opponent.

The method of rearing by SiamAquatic :
•    Select fighting fish age about 6 -8 months. Take it into the basin, put it on a dry banana leaf or dry Indian almond leaf and rip it a little. Long 1- 2 cm. bundle together and soak until the water becomes a deep brown color.  Preserve about 10 – 15 days, yield 8 – 10 mosquito larva per days. In this period, it is thin, scale of the fish like oil. Take it into the tall container for convenience.
•    Practice the fighting fish by exercising it every morning – in the evening place it in an enameled bowl and make a whirlpool. The fighting fish will turn and swim about 15-20  minutes or other method with female fish age 3-4 months place it into the enamel bowl about 5-6 pieces. About 30 minutes. It helps them improve and strength.
•    In the morning 6:00 – 7:00 o’clock. Take the shelter out, because the fighting fish will threaten each other for about 1 minute. In the afternoon, take those fish into the enameled bowl. That female fish will be in this container about 3-5 days. The male and female fighting fish will threaten each other as well as bite, wait about 3-5 minutes, Meanwhile, do not let the male fish injure the female fish. She will not pair up with male if she is injured. Then, separate those fish and give them some food.  Keep practicing 10 – 12 days. Those fish will be strong and ready to fight.

Rearing fish before competition is important. If your fish isn’t ready your fish may lose. The fighting fish is as same as a boxer who prepares to compete. Such as exercising, weights training and practice. Finally, I wish you good luck.
